Last Monday I landed my second audiobook gig. It was a great surprise—the author found my recently updated samples on Audible’s platform, ACX. He liked that I didn’t read the religious samples all “Bible-y.” You know—deep, bassy, Old Testament stuff. Less performative and more respectful of the material.
Anyway, the day after I e-signed the contract I got a cold. Knocked me out flat on my back for 48+ hours. A week later and I’m still dealing with it.
I wondered how narrators are supposed to handle their workload when their heads are full of snot. I’ve been trying to get a clean recording and so far sound like…something else. Haha.
Nonetheless, the recording itch must be scratched, so I did this in part because it’s on my list, and in part because I wanted to see if I have the skills to edit out “The Cold.” I’ll let you judge whether I was successful. ;-)
